Auction History Search Tips
-
Omit "A", "An", and "The" from the beginning of a film title.
- Use Godfather instead of The Godfather
- Use Hole in the Head instead of A Hole in the Head
-
Searching is not case sensitive,
so all of the following examples will yield the same results
- gone with the wind
- Gone with the Wind
- Gone With The Wind
- GONE WITH THE WIND
-
To search for separate words, use the "+" symbol like this:
- baseball +comedy
- bud abbott "+lou costello"
- james bond +moore
-
To exclude a term from your search, use the "-" symbol like this:
- italian -locandina
- sci-fi -disney
- hepburn -audrey
- Lesser known actors and crew members probably won't show up in our keyword search because we normally only list the most popular people in our descriptions. If you want to search for a lesser-known person, search for the film title(s) that person appeared in.
- Learn more about the many features of our Auction History and Auction Galleries on the Tutorial page.
- Search Filters can be used to get more relevant results. For example, you are looking for John Wayne items, so you type "john wayne" into the search box. This will bring up everything with John Wayne in the description, such as Gary Cooper, whose description mentions John Wayne in it. To filter out the less relevant results, click "John Wayne" in Search Filters, under By Person.
- The Search Filters can be sorted by popularity, or alphabetically. To switch between the two, use the sort icon below the Search Filters bar.
- Three Different Ways to Search
Filtering
Let's say you search for "Hombre". Your results come up with "Hard Hombre", "Hombre", and "Valiant Hombre". If you just want to
see "Hombre" titles without the other two films listed, click the filter icon (
) next to the film title.
You may also filter by clicking the size, so you could
filter to "Hombre" and "1sheet" to see only Hombre one-sheets.
Searching Descriptions
Below is an example description, from the movie Deliverance. This is the type of description your search will be searching through to find your keywords. You can search for a movie title, star, director, genre, or anything else you can find in our movie description.
Deliverance, the classic 1972 John Boorman river men-on-weekend-canoe-trip-meet-bestial-mountain-men-who-do-unspeakable-things thriller ("This is the weekend they didn't play golf"; nominated for the Best Director and Best Picture Academy Award; written by James Dickey from his own novel) starring Jon Voight, Burt Reynolds, Ned Beatty, and Ronny Cox
