character actors, and he has given us lots of great information over the years (he's a major
contributor to the notes that appears in our auction listings and often helps us with the accuracy
of who we say is pictured on stills and lobby cards). He exhibited such great knowledge when writing
to us of black film pioneers that we asked him to write a more in-depth series and he gladly
accepted. Below is his first introductory article, and then each week, we will run a heavily
illustrated article by Gabe on a specific black film pioneer (actors, producers and directors).
