An Original Vintage Movie Script (measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm], 121 pages) (Learn More) Garbo Talks, the 1984 Sidney Lumet comedy ("Sometimes you can catch a star..."; about a woman's son attempting to bring Greta Garbo to his dying mother) starring Anne Bancroft, Ron Silver, Carrie Fisher, Catherine Hicks, Steven Hill, Howard Da Silva, Dorothy Loudon, Harvey Fierstein, Hermione Gingold, and Betty Comden (uncredited, in the title role as Greta Garbo!) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that there is a hand signed note on ICM notepaper from super agent Sue Mengers, saying that this was the "latest draft", in case you didn't get the one already sent. It is addressed "Dear Ryan", and we would think it was likely sent to Ryan O'Neal, but of course, the movie ended up starring Ron Silver. Also note that this screenplay was written by Larry Grusin. Note that this script was consigned to us directly from director/screenwriter Charles Shyer. Mr. Shyer is the director of many extremely popular movies from the 1970s to the present, many of which are romantic comedies, including House Calls, Private Benjamin, Baby Boom, remakes of Father of the Bride and The Parent Trap, and many others. Over the years, he collected scripts, which he received primarily in two different ways. He was friends with screenwriters, directors, and producers during those years, and they would sometimes send him scripts of their movies to get his opinion of them, and many of those are offered here. In addition, as a member of the screenwriter's branch of the Academy, he was sent many scripts where the producers hoped that their script would be nominated for a Best Screenwriting Academy Award, and many of these have "for your consideration" printed on the cover. This is a rare opportunity to purchase original scripts that come directly from the personal collection of a prominent director/screenwriter! Condition: very good. Note that we have photographed the cover of the script, the title page, the final page of the script (the one that reads "THE END"), and one or more interior pages. These images will not only provide important information about the script, but they also allow you to closely judge the condition of the script. The script is 100% complete!
