An Undated (probably 1950s) Re-release Theatrical Danish Movie Program (measures 5 1/2" x 7 1/2" [14 x 19 cm]; 8 pages) (Learn More) Of Mice and Men, the classic 1940 Lewis Milestone Depression era best-friends-trying-to-make-enough-to-live-a-good-life adventure melodrama ("Hollywood said it could never be made but now it's on the screen"; "I'm Lennie... I didn't mean to do no bad thing."; "I'm George... I always knowed Lennie would get us into a mess... A bad mess."; "I'm Mae... I'm straight, I tell you... Nobody's got no right to call me names."; "Sure I got a husband! He ain't never home. I got nobody to talk to... I got nobody to be with... I want to see somebody... Just see 'em and talk to 'em. I come from a nice home. I was brung up by nice people. I'm straight, I tell you. Nobody's Got No Right To Call Me Names!"; "The picture Hollywood said could never be made!"; "A mighty novel! A sensational stage success! Now! The year's most important picture!"; "A novel by John Steinbeck author of 'Grapes of Wrath'"; produced by Hal Roach; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Burgess Meredith (as George), Betty Field (as Curly's wife, Mae), Lon Chaney Jr. (as Lennie), Bob Steele (as Curly), Charles Bickford, and Roman Bohnen NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Aage Lundvald Important Added Info: Note that this Danish program is the "larger size" (see below), and the art is dated 1947 in the top right corner, so it would surely seem to be from 1947 (and likely the first release in Denmark). But close inspection reveals a reproduced censor stamp in the bottom right corner, which says "1948-49", so the program is surely from 1949 or later, and we suspect from the early 1950s! Also note that most Danish programs from after around 1948 measured approximately 4 3/4" x 6". However, most of the ones from before that time were a larger size (usually around 5 3/4" x 8") and usually had a lot more pages than those from after 1948 (however, some of the ones made during World War II are a smaller size and have few pages, no doubt due to paper shortages). In addition, most of the "pre-War" Danish programs are FAR more rare than programs from after World War II, no doubt because they were destroyed during the huge paper shortages during World War II. Also note that we have pictured the front and back covers and an interior 2-page spread from this program. Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
