LEWIS MILESTONE

Lewis Milestone was a Russian (in what is now Moldova) director from the 1910s to the 1950s. He is best remembered for directing All Quiet On The Western Front (winner of the Best Director Academy Award for this film), but he had a long and distinguished career, with many top movies to his credit! Some of his other movies include: Mutiny on the Bounty, Ocean's Eleven, and The Front Page (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film). He passed away in 1980 at the age of 84.
