Time to consign to our next major auction!
We will surely have our 18th Annual Halloween Auction at the end of October, and our December Major Auction in early December. But
we are not sure if we will have one or two other major auctions between now and October. Why? Because it is a massive amount of work for us to do each
of these major auctions, and we will only hold another one at the end of May if we are consigned a lot of material for it between now and the end of
If we don't have a lot of major consignments by the end of April, then we will postpone the auction until the beginning of July. If
we do it that way, we will have another major auction three months from now, and then another one (the Halloween auction) three months after that.
So the two possibilities are for us to have a major auction at the end of May and then another one at the beginning of August, OR
to solely have one major auction at the beginning of July. I am telling you this so that, if you have quality items you would like to consign, you
will send them very soon, which will make it far more likely we will have both a May and a July major auction.
I think it makes a lot of sense for us to have another major auction in May, because it is very clear that right now there are a lot
of top buyers who will pay US top dollar for quality items, so it makes sense to "strike while the iron is hot"!
But this is up to you, our consignors. If you send us enough quality items between now and the end of April, that May Major Auction
will happen (but if it doesn't, then it will surely happen at the beginning of July, which is not that long of an additional wait). And of course, you
have two great advantages to sending your items early. We always take the first of each item we receive, so by sending early, you have a much better
chance of it being your example of an item that is guaranteed to be in the auction. And we use those early consignments for our early advertising, so
you get that advantage as well.
You surely already know that we charge the lowest commission rate (at every level) of any major auction. We get lots more consignors
every major auction (many of whom tell us how much happier they are dealing with us than with other auctions). But because we are one of the only
auctions around that REALLY auctions everything (without reserves, hidden or otherwise), that means that we are "starting over" with each new
major auction (but this also explains why we have so much "fresh" material each time, as opposed to those auctions which keep "auctioning" the same
items over and over and over). And we know that all the buyers greatly appreciate that we honestly describe every item, which often accounts for why
people are willing to pay more to us!
We hide nothing from our bidders
It's a number's game!
