So between now and Sunday the 23rd at 3 PM CT (when the entire auction goes "live"), PLEASE spend some of that time looking over this wonderful preview gallery, and then you will be more prepared to check them all out Sunday when they go live! I KNOW for certain that this auction is PACKED with lots of extreme rarities and highly desirable items of EVERY kind. It is surely one of our best major auctions in years! ABSOLUTE PROOF YOU GET FAR MORE CONSIGNING TO US THAN TO ANY OTHER MAJOR AUCTION!You might THINK that "consigning to auctions" is pretty much the same, and that how much money you receive is pretty much "the luck of the draw". But nothing could be further from the truth! We at eMoviePoster.com charge SO incredibly less than EVERY other auction (at all price levels) that the difference in what WE pay our consignors and what other auctions pay to their consignors can be downright mind-blowing! Here are two wonderful examples of just how great the difference can be, using two actual pairs of posters WE sold, and another auction sold, just days apart. Here is the first one. Almost exactly one year ago, we at eMoviePoster.com happened to auction an example of a VERY desirable poster just 12 days after another auction company auctioned another example of the same poster, and while the results were similar ($21,500 at eMoviePoster.com vs $20,000 at the other auction, the amounts the consignors received were ANYTHING but similar ($19,350 at eMoviePoster.com vs $13,600 at the other auction, a difference of $5,750!). See the below image and the text under it for the complete story of what occurred. On 12/7/2023, another major auction company sold an example of the one-sheet from The Empire Strikes Back that has unedited Kastel art, and it sold for $20,000. On 12/19/2023 (12 days later), our company, eMoviePoster.com, sold a different example of the one-sheet from The Empire Strikes Back that has unedited Kastel art, for $21,500. But this brings up a great point. A few collectors (especially "newbies") have a perception that the auctions that print fancy catalogs and have giant showrooms sometimes get more money than we do. BUT THIS IS NOT BORNE OUT IN ACTUAL RESULTS! When you compare "like items" (apples to apples and oranges to oranges), you will find that we at eMoviePoster.com often DO get more than the "fancy catalog" auctions. AND EVEN IF THE OTHER EMPIRE STRIKES BACK TEST POSTER HAD SOLD FOR $25,000 AND OURS HAD SOLD FOR $20,000, OUR CONSIGNOR WOULD STILL HAVE RECEIVED $1,000 MORE, EVEN THOUGH HIS POSTER SOLD FOR $5,000 LESS! And the most SHOCKING of all, 15 DOLLARS or 75 cents for a $30 poster? So if YOU have posters you have considered selling, shouldn't you consign them to eMoviePoster.com, where you get so MUCH more money for equivalent selling prices? And you might THINK the above Empire Strikes Back pair of results was an "isolated example", but in fact, it is far more common than you might realize. And now, a year later, the same thing has happened again! We at eMoviePoster.com happened to auction an example of another VERY desirable poster (War of the Worlds British Quad) just 36 days before another auction company auctioned another example of the same poster, and ONCE AGAIN, while the results were similar ($23,733 at eMoviePoster.com vs $23,125 at the other auction. The poster at that other auction sold for $18,500 "hammer" price, plus a 25% "buyers premium, for a total of $23,125. The consignor of that poster paid 15% of the hammer price in commission, $2,775, so HE RECEIVED $15,725 OUT OF THE $23,125 SALE! The poster at eMoviePoster.com sold for $23,733 "hammer" price, plus ZERO PERCENT "buyers premium, for a total of $23,733. The consignor of our War of the Worlds British Quad paid 10% of the hammer price in commission, $2,373, so HE RECEIVED $21,360 OUT OF THE $23,733 SALE! SO OUR CONSIGNOR RECEIVED $21,360, AND THE OTHER CONSIGNOR RECEIVED $15,725, A DIFFERENCE OF FIVE THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED THIRTY FIVE DOLLARS! AND EVEN IF THE OTHER WAR OF THE WORLDS QUAD HAD SOLD FOR $30,000 AT THE OTHER AUCTION AND OURS HAD SOLD FOR $23,733, THEN OUR CONSIGNOR WOULD STILL HAVE RECEIVED $960 MORE THAT THE CONSIGNOR OF THE OTHER EXAMPLE, EVEN THOUGH HIS POSTER SOLD FOR $6,267 LESS! And, as we said above, this is not solely true with super expensive items! We take FAR lower commissions at EVERY selling price across the board! Please go to https://www.emovieposter.com/learnmore/?page=consign for a complete and transparent explanation of exactly how consigning to us works! And we CLEARLY state exactly what we charge at every price level, something you can't find at any other major auction site. So if YOU have very expensive posters to auction, realize that there is an excellent chance you will receive thousands more for those posters, EVEN IF THEY SELL FOR AROUND THE SAME PRICE AT EITHER AUCTION! When you add in that eMoviePoster.com is the most trusted auction there is (with 35 years and $119 million in REAL sales) is there ANY doubt which auction you should consign your most valued posters to? YOU MUST READ THIS BEFORE CONSIGNING! We don't accept ANY sub-$50 consignment items at all (even for bulk lots), and lesser condition items must be solidly $75+ and linens must be solidly $100+)!TWENTY TWO months ago, on May 1st, 2023 we first announced the above changes and January 1, 2025 we raised the minimum values again. Almost ALL consignors have now realized this, and are either solely sending items that meet the above minimums (or not sending any items), and that saves us massive time sorting through low value items, time we get to spend on the $50+ items we receive, which we are now getting to auction even faster than ever! But a very few consignors continue to send low value items, and we are now simply returning those at the consignor's expense, so PLEASE, if you are one of the very few doing this, please stop doing so right away! IF YOU ARE WONDERING HOW WE STILL HAVE ANY "BULK LOT" AUCTIONS, THOSE ARE ALL ITEMS RECEIVED BEFORE 5/1/2023! WHEN THOSE ITEMS ARE GONE, THERE WILL BE NO MORE BULK LOTS AT ALL! This added change has resulted in a much "leaner" eMoviePoster.com, one that does not auction hardly any lesser condition items, and I guarantee you all that bidders have greatly welcomed this change! AND IF THIS MEANS THAT ANY OF YOU NO LONGER WANT TO CONSIGN, I CAN ACCEPT THAT. TWENTY TWO MONTHS AGO I ALSO MADE A COMMITMENT TO ALL OF YOU! It is now the end of February 2025. I will continue running this business (just as I have for the past 35 years) through the end of 2025, at the very least! Since that should roughly coincide with our TWO MILLIONTH auction (which I DO want to reach) I will go until 12/31/25 OR our 2,000,000th auction, whichever comes later! After 12/31/25, I make no promises at this time. I MAY WELL continue longer (especially as I am SO liking the "new" eMoviePoster.com), or I MAY somewhat withdraw from the business so the employees run it more and more, or I MAY look for a buyer for it (possibly some of the employees themselves), or I MAY close it down! SO WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR OUR CONSIGNORS? If YOU are someone with a house (or a warehouse) full of items, realize that for the next 10 months guaranteed you have a effortless way to sell all your items, both with no work on your part, and you get to deal with the most honest and most trusted auction there is! AFTER 2025 comes to an end, do those of you with a house (or a warehouse) full of items have a "Plan B" if we are no longer auctioning (which may or may not happen)? You surely DON'T want to sell your items one at a time, and you surely know most dealers would offer you pennies on the the dollar, and you surely know that almost every other auction would charge you huge fees and only want your best stuff, so SHOULDN'T YOU CONSIDER THE MERITS OF CONSIGNING TO US OVER THE NEXT TEN MONTHS? And PLEASE don't tell me that your plan is to let your heirs worry about how to deal with your stuff after you are gone. That often works out terribly, and sometimes whole collections are literally trashed. Unless you positively hate your heirs, do not choose this option! Over and over the past few years, very long time collectors with huge collections have told me that "we need to have a talk one of these days" because they need to make a plan on how they will deal with their collection. That time has now come, and all of you have 10 months left in which figure out what to do, and you want to start thinking about this sooner than later! Now I have no crystal ball! Maybe a new auction like ours will emerge down the line that offers a reasonable alternative to auctioning through us. I hope that occurs. But for right now, I feel that what I say above makes a massive amount of sense for those of you who are in an age bracket (or a point in your life or collecting) where you want and need to do SOMETHING with your collection sooner than later! If YOU are someone like the collectors or dealers I describe above with a house (or a warehouse) full of items that you would love to no longer have (while getting them into the hands of people who will treasure, and with doing little work on your own), please feel free to email or phone me so we can discuss "your next step"! WE WANT TO BUILD AN EMOVIEPOSTER.COM THAT CAN KEEP BEING THESE BEST AUCTION HOUSE THERE IS FOR YEARS TO COME, AND IT IS ONLY THROUGH STRICTLY ENFORCING THE ABOVE RULES ABOUT SENDING NO MORE SUB-$50 ITEMS AT ALL (AND NO MORE LESSER CONDITION SUB-$75 ITEMS AND NO SUB-$100 LINEN ITEMS) THAT WE CAN DO SO. IT IS IN THE BEST INTEREST OF EVERY COLLECTOR AND CONSIGNOR FOR THAT TO HAPPEN! THANKS FOR BEING UNDERSTANDING OF THE NEED FOR STRICTLY ENFORCING THESE SIMPLE RULES Why eMoviePoster.com is FAR AND AWAY the world's #1 vintage poster auction houseeMoviePoster.com is FAR AND AWAY the world's #1 vintage poster auction house, and the reason for that is simple!
