A Vintage German Hardcover Book (measures 5" x 7 1/2" [13 x 19 cm]; 272 pages) (Learn More) Das Nibelungenbuch (literally translates to "The Nibelungen Book"), the 1924 Thea von Harbou German fantasy story book written to publicize Die Nibelungen: Siegfried & Kriemhilds Rache, the 1924 Fritz Lang German silent sword-and-sorcery fantasy adventure melodrama (this was a re-telling of the story of the greatest of ancient German folk heroes, Siegfried; Lang had so much material that he split it into two movies; both movies were scripted by Fritz Lang and long-time Lang collaborator Thea von Harbou) starring Paul Richter (in the title role as Siegfried), Margarete Schon, Hans Adalbert Schlettow, Bernhard Goetzke, Gertrud Arnold, Hanna Ralph, Theodor Loos and Erwin Biswanger. The book includes several sepia images from the movies NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have previously auctioned two hardcover German books like this. Neither of those had a dust jacket as this one does. The hardcover of this is a green binding, while one of those was orange and the other was red, and all three have slight differences on the title pages, so they are clearly from three different editions, but they are not marked that way inside, so we have no idea if there is a way to tell which of the three predate each other. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Also note that we have pictured the front cover, the title page, and the interior page that shows the publishing information, and one or more interior 2-page spreads. Condition: good to very good. This book has its original dust jacket, which is extremely rare! The dust jacket has some tiny paper loss around the edges. The book itself has some tiny brown stains on the interior blank pages and very slightly on the other pages on the outer edges. The spine is slightly weakened. But generally, the book is in pretty nice condition, given its age, and it is a giant plus that it has the dust jacket (see our images). Learn More about condition grades
