Intruder in the Dust, the 1949 Clarence Brown black African American southern racial prejudice injustice racism Mississippi discrimination courtroom trial legal attorney lawyer crime thriller ("It's sensational!"; "William Faulkner's daring novel now on the screen!"; "A solitary woman, unarmed, holds back a mob!"; "Based on the Novel by William Faulkner"; set in then present day Mississippi; about a black man who is found with a dead white man, and a gun in his hand, and it seems like he is surely guilty, and there is talk of a lynch mob, but a white teen who knew the man convinces an important lawyer to take his case) starring David Brian, Claude Jarman Jr., Juano Hernandez, Porter Hall, Elizabeth Patterson, Charles Kemper, and Will Geer. Note that this was one of the first Hollywood movies to take a serious look at racism in then present day America!

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this daybill was used by The Orpheum theater in Sydney, Australia that originally opened in 1935! The theater featured art deco design, two levels and seating for 1735. The theater was sold in the 1970s and converted into a shopping center. Luckily, in 1986, it was lovingly restored and re-opened as the Hayden Orpheum! Also note that this poster was folded at one time and it can be re-folded for shipping purchases, but it will be sent rolled in a tube if it is purchased with other posters that are sent rolled in a tube.

Condition: good to very good. There is a theater snipe glued across the top of the poster that adds approximately 3 3/4" to the overall height of the poster (the poster was not trimmed and the snipe could surely be removed by a professional restorer, or talented amateur, if one chose to do so).
