An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures approximately 3" x 4") (Learn More) Make Believe Ballroom, the 1949 Joseph Santley all-star music-and-singing romantic teen musical ("The hep parade of the year"; "with 12 Great Musical Stars"; "Based on the radio programs of Al Jarvis and Martin Block"; "All-star, all-hit, all-out jam jamboree!"; "Jumpin', Jivin', Cavalcade of Bands... Toni Harper was a black African American child singer born in Los Angeles in 1937. She was performing on stage at the age of 8 with Herb Jeffries and Cab Calloway among many others. In 1946, she had a platinum record with "Candy Store Blues" and she appeared in two movies in 1948 and 1949, and made three appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show at this time. When she turned 18, she recorded an album and made two more several years later. She toured in Japan with Cannonball Adderley in 1963, and had a small part in 1965's "How to Stuff a Wild Bikini", and then she completely retired from show business, and to the best of our knowledge, she is still alive! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). We have taken a digital photo of each that shows the general condition of the overall slide and holder, and we have also made a digital scan that shows the glass image well, but does not show the holder (except as a dark outline). Condition: very good. The cardboard holder has staining around the staples, but otherwise it is in pretty nice condition. Learn More about condition grades
