An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style C One-Sheet Movie Poster (27" x 41") (Learn More) Night Must Fall, the 1937 Richard Thorpe crime murder mental illness psychopath thriller ("Amazing! Different! Unique!"; "His most startling role"; "'It's awfully h e a v y... I wonder whats in it?'"; From the play by Emlyn Williams) starring Robert Montgomery (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; "Meet Robert Montgomery in the most daringly different role that ever flashed full-blooded from a sizzling silver screen!"), Rosalind Russell, Dame May Whitty (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Alan Marshal, Merle Tottenham, Kathleen Harrison, and Matthew Boulton. Note that this movie was re-made in 1964 with Albert Finney in the lead role! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had very minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had much damage along all of the foldlines and around all of the borders (the face of Montgomery was mostly in pretty good condition, but the face of Russell had some damage. The person who linenbacked the poster painted over all of the borders, and also performed extensive restoration to all of the foldlines, and needed to touch up much of the background area to "even" it out. I would say they did quite a nice job (with what was clearly a very difficult restoration job). Looking at the poster, you get a sense it has had a fair amount of restoration, but it was well done, and I would think most collectors would be happy to display this poster on their wall!
