Artist: Tom Jung Important Added Info: Note that last time we auctioned an example of this poster (which is many, many times more rare than the one-sheets from this title) it sold for $2,000! ALSO, FOR UNKNOWN REASONS, SOME THEATER ROLLED THIS POSTER HORIZONTALLY INSTEAD OF VERTICALLY. This means that the poster will need to be sent in a 41" tube, rather than a 31" tube, UNLESS the winning bidder wants us to re-roll it the "correct" way (but this could cause some additional creases in the poster). That will be the choice of the new owner. Note that it appears that when 20th Century Fox created 30" x 40" posters for Star Wars, they wanted to economize, and so they simply used the exact same one-sheet printing plate, which included the words "ONE SHEET - STYLE 'A'" at bottom right, and the NSS number "77/21" to the right of that, and the words "STAR WARS" below the NSS number. But that printing plate was designed for a 27" x 41" poster, and so when it was used on this 30" x 40" poster, the words "STAR WARS" at bottom right, and the tiny NSS information at bottom center were either completely cut off, or partially cut off, depending on how the image was centered on the available space (we have seen several different variations of this, and they all vary as to whether there is any of that writing at bottom, and how much there is). There are also examples of this poster that do not have this oddity, because they don't have "ONE SHEET - STYLE A" printed in the bottom right, so maybe someone noticed this and created ones without the incorrect size. It is clear that there were several different print runs of this poster (not at all surprising given how incredibly popular the movie was!), and all are considered to be from the first release, because no one knows which, if any, came first. Condition: good to very good. As noted above, the poster was rolled horizontally (meaning it was rolled the "long" way). It was roughly handled after it was rolled, so although the poster was never folded, it now has a partial vertical fold down the center and two lighter partial vertical folds down the left and right quarters of the poster. It has some creases around the edges and very tiny brown stains in the lower right background area and some tiny creases in the top and bottom blank borders. Learn More about condition grades
