An Original Vintage Theatrical French Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 8 3/4" x 12 1/4" [22 x 31 cm]; 8 pages) (Learn More)

The Woman on Trial (released in other English-speaking countries as "Confession"), the 1927 Mauritz Stiller silent Paris France romantic love triangle mother love courtroom legal lawyer murder mystery crime melodrama ("What is your verdict of the woman on trial?"; about a woman whose love is an artist who is dying of tuberculosis, and she marries a rich man, and has a son by him, and gets him to buy her lover's paintings, so he can afford to go get cured!; but he goes downhill, and she rushes to his side, and her husband catches her with her lover, and divorces her, and gets the courts to give him custody of their little boy; she shoots her husband and is put on trial, and the entire movie is told in flashback from the witness stand, and after she tells her story, the jury acquits her, and she is able to reunite with her lover, who is now cured!) starring Pola Negri, Einar Hanson, Arnold Kent, Andre Sarti, and Dorothy Brock. Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no complete surviving copies are thought to exist (only fragments).

Important Added Info: Note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this French pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this French pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut!

Condition: very good, NO CUTS. The pressbook was apparently removed from a bound volume and there is slight glue residue down the edge of the spine, but otherwise, it is in nice condition!
