An Original 1964 Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Censored Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) Le Repos du Guerrier (released in the U.S. in 1964 as "Love on a Pillow" and released in other English-speaking countries as "Warrior's Rest"), the 1962 Roger Vadim (billed as "Vadim") French/Italian romantic thriller ("The screen sizzles with uninhibited Bardolatry!"; "Bardot... She Saved His Life... And He Destroyed Hers!"; "Based on the novel by Christiane Rochefort") starring Brigitte Bardot, Robert Hossein, James Robertson Justice, Jean-Marc Bory, Jacqueline Porel, Jean-Marc Tennberg, Macha Meril, Michel Serrault, and Yves Barsacq NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster was over-painted (see below). Note that this poster has never been folded! Some pre-1970 insert posters were folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 insert posters (note that most post-1970 inserts were NOT folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those inserts). Condition: fair. Note that this poster was used in Canada. In the mid 1940s, extending into the 1960s, Canadian censors were fanatical over not showing images of guns, but also girls with "too sexy" revealing clothes, and violent images. So they actually hired people to apply giant blobs of paint over offensive areas! The censor paint covers parts of Bardot's body and there is a large area of censor paint in the artwork right of Bardot's image (covering the image of the man behind her) and there is censor paint at bottom over the image of the couple making out (apparently Bardot pictured with anyone else on the poster was too much for the censors!). The paint bonds in with the poster, and it CAN'T be removed, only painted over. So either you see this as a giant defect, which defaces the poster, or you may think of it as a "cool addition", showing how crazy Canadian censorship was at this time. But please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept this very significant defect! Learn More about condition grades
