An Original Vintage Promo Hat (measures 7" x 14" [18 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) White Eagle, the 1941 James W. Horne Native American Indian cowboy western serial ("Ride with Buck... back to the dangerous days when the West was really wild!"; "Buck's on a red-hot thrill rampage in the greatest adventure show of them all!"; "the action-flaming chapter-play"; "the thrill-thronged serial epic"; "the blood-freezing thrill serial"; "the spine-tingling serial thriller"; "Greatest serial epic of them all!"; Buck thinks he is the son of a Native American chief, because they adopted him when his father was killed by the Indians) starring Buck Jones (in the title role as White Eagle), Raymond Hatton, Dorothy Fay, Roy Barcroft, and Yakima Canutt. Note that Buck Jones' white horse was named Silver (just like The Lone Ranger's later on!), and Silver made 73 movies with Buck Jones from 1922 until Jones' death in 1942 in the tragic Cocoanut Grove fire. But oddly, Silver was almost never billed on the posters for Buck Jones' movies as so many other famous horses (most especially Tom Mix's Tony) were! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that in the 1920s and 1930s, studios made tons of unusual promotional items for almost every major movie, and very, very few of them survive. This one, which is an elaborate cardboard hat with many layers of colored tissue paper within it, is extremely cool, and if another survives, one would think it would likely be in much lesser condition. While we did not technically auction this promo before, we did auction a sample version of it that looked the same but said "I am whooping for White Eagle banner" on the brim. That was a sample version of this that was included with a pressbook, and the pressbook with the sample auctioned for $440! Condition: very good. The item has slight wear, but generally has likely survived in about as good condition as one could hope, especially since it is filled with tissue paper! Learn More about condition grades
