Date Sold 11/14/2019Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Undated (probably 1940s) Re-Release Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Dr. Ehrlich's Magic Bullet (also released as "The Magic Bullet" and "The Story of Dr. Ehrlich's Magic Bullet"), the 1940 William Dieterle (this is one of five biographical movies Dieterle directed for Warner Bros) historical biography melodrama (about of Dr. Paul Ehrlich, the doctor who did not consider it immoral to search for a drug that would cure syphilis) starring Edward G. Robinson (in the title role as Dr. Paul Ehrlich), Ruth Gordon (in her second credited movie role!), Otto Kruger, Donald Crisp, Maria Ouspenskaya, Montagu Love, Donald Meek, and Henry O'Neill. Note that the screenplay for this movie was partially written by John Huston, "From an idea by Norman Burnside". Also note that we have seen movie paper from this title under all three titles given above, and it is quite possible that one or two of them are from re-releases only (especially because first release lobby cards from this movie were on a linen finish, typical of Warner Bros. lobby cards in the late 1930s and into the beginning of the 1940s. So if any of the titles are only seen on non-linen cards, then they would be from a re-release only). If anyone can sort this out for us, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this title card is extremely rare. We have never auctioned it before! Note that this is a Warner Bros. non-linen lobby card (there are also linen lobby cards on this title). Some people believe the non-linen cards to be from 1940 as the linen cards are, but we believe them to be from an early 1940s re-release. When Warner Bros.' top stars all enlisted in World War II, Warner Bros. re-released many of their top titles, and the non-linen cards are from 1942 to 1945 re-releases. Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: fair to good. There is paper loss in the lower left blank border with surface paper loss that slightly extended into the edge of green background and someone slightly touched up that tiny bit of green. There was an oval-shaped stain in the lower left of the artwork and someone attempted to restore that area, but it is still noticeable. There is a 1" tear in the center of the left border that was repaired with tape from the back. There are creases, smudges, small creases, and a few tiny tears around the edges, with some smudges and scuffs scattered in background areas. See our super-sized images to get a good sense of the condition of this card. Learn More about condition grades
