Werker detective mystery crime thriller sequel ("Based on the play 'Sherlock Holmes' by William Gillette with the permission of the executors of the late Sir Arthur Conan Doyle") starring Basil Rathbone (in the title role as Sherlock Holmes), Nigel Bruce (as Dr. Watson), Ida Lupino, Alan Marshal, Terry Kilburn, George Regas, Henry Stephenson, and E.E. Clive. Note that this is the second Basil Rathbone & Nigel Bruce Sherlock Holmes movie, and it was released by 20th Century Fox, as was their first film, "The Hound of the Baskervilles". All subsequent Rathbone & Bruce Sherlock Holmes movies were released by Universal! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this pressbook from the first Universal Sherlock Holmes movie! Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook (if the back cover is not the poster page, we photographed the interior poster page), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Note that for the past 18 months, we have auctioned one of the most extraordinary collections of pressbooks ever assembled! What made it so extraordinary is that it contained lots and lots of extremely rare pressbooks, mostly from the 1930s and 1940s, including many that we had never auctioned before. In our last few regular auctions, we auctioned most of the last of this gigantic collection, and now, in this April Major Auction, we are auctioning the very last of them, and one quick look tells you that "we saved many of the very best for last"! This is your FINAL opportunity to buy from this extraordinary collection! Condition: fair to good, WITH CUTS. One interior page (page 3/4), which almost certainly contained solely newspaper ads, was neatly removed. The back cover had a 7" tear in the middle left of the back cover, and someone put clear tape over that tear from the inside back cover, with a tiny piece on the front of the back cover. There are diagonal creases in the top left of the back cover and the last interior page. Other than these defects, the pressbook is in nice condition.
