Date Sold 9/15/2020 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 8 Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Cards (LCs; measure 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Private Life of Don Juan, the 1934 Alexander Korda English biographical romantic comedy (a highly fictionalized biography of the most famous historical lover; he is getting old, and his wife wants him back, and she can send him to jail if he refuses, and meanwhile an impostor is posing as him, and when the impostor is killed, the real Don Juan sees it as a chance to disappear and assume a new identity!) starring Douglas Fairbanks Sr. (in the title role as Don Juan), Merle Oberon, Binnie Barnes, Melville Cooper, and Benita Hume (the other women in the cast other than Oberon are billed collectively as "and the beautiful ladies of Henry VIII") NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this a very rare complete set of lobby cards for this movie (and we have never before auctioned five of the scene cards in this set!). Also note that that this set of cards which includes the printed envelope this set originally came with, is one of one of a remarkable group of FIFTEEN sets that were recently discovered! All are from 1934 and 1935, and each is in remarkable condition. This is a wonderful opportunity to get complete sets in the best possible condition, and this may not occur again for quite some time (there were only two other sets in this find, "The Phantom Empire", and "Devil Dogs of the Air", and we previously auctioned those two sets by the card). Once these sets are sold there will be no more cards from this find! Condition: very good. The title card has much surface paper loss around the edges with some scattered in the card and a small hole in the lower left inset image. The card with Fairbanks and the woman by the pole has small surface paper loss in the top right blank corner. The other six cards are in really excellent condition (see our images).
