An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The New MGM CinemaScope Cartoons starring Tom & Jerry, the 1955 cat-and-mouse chase animated animation cartoon comedy stock poster ("Funniest of them all!") promoting Tom & Jerry cartoons. Theaters would order this poster, and then display it whenever they showed a Tom & Jerry cartoon, thus getting to re-use the same poster over and over. Note that I have long been aware that in the early 1950s, MGM made "stock" Tom & Jerry posters that had a blank area at the bottom (sometimes overprinting them with names of specific shorts, and sometimes leaving them blank), but until 2007, when I first auctioned this poster, I was unaware that MGM EVER made this stock poster for Tom & Jerry cartoons, which has no blank area, and has a really great image of Tom & Jerry performing on stage, doffing their hats, with large shadows on the wall behind them! Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned two examples of this one-sheet, and only one in the last 14 years! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had some tiny creases and tiny bits of paper loss on parts of the folds. It had an NSS stamp on the back of the upper right that slight bled through to the front in the upper right background. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed, but the restorer did not address the slight bleed-through in the top right corner (but it is not very noticeable or distracting; see our image).
