An Original Vintage Theatrical 8 1/4" x 10" [21 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Cornered, the 1946 Edward Dmytryk post-World War II Buenos Aires Argentina murder crime film noir ("The New Dick Powell gets rougher, tougher and more terrific!"; "Tempting... yet deadly!"; about a Canadian flyer who married a Frenchwoman during World War II, and she was killed by a collaborator, and he wants to find out who was responsible and get revenge, and that search leads him to Buenos Aires, where there are lots of Nazis in hiding) starring Dick Powell, Walter Slezak, Micheline Cheirel, Nina Vale, Morris Carnovsky, Edgar Barrier, and Luther Adler. Note that Dick Powell had been a cheerful leading man in romantic musical comedies of the 1930s, and in 1944, he reinvented himself by playing Phillip Marlowe in "Murder, My Sweet", and with this movie, he continued that transformation, and the studio advertised him as "The New Dick Powell". NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this still is printed on Velox paper, but we believe it to surely be an original still. Sometimes, studios would run out of stills and have extras printed on different stock. Also note that this still measures 8 1/4" x 10" [21 x 25 cm]. Note that not only does our current auction of 999 stills represent the absolute finest selection we have ever had in terms of quality of image and film, but it also represents the finest CONDITION group of stills we have ever had! Half of the stills are graded as being in "very good to fine" condition (which is our highest grade for vintage stills), but we were very strict on this, because otherwise, perhaps two thirds or three quarters of the stills would have received this grade! We downgraded stills to "very good" for pretty minor defects, and many of these might have received our "very good to fine" grade in the past. And the half of the stills that ARE in very good to fine condition would likely be graded "mint" by any other auction! This is the finest group of stills I have ever seen, and I can only hope to equal it someday! Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
