Topaze), Myrna Loy, Reginald Mason, Jobyna Howland, and Jackie Searl NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this lobby card has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the lobby card was backed onto a very light paper backing (acid-free), that keeps the "feel" of the lobby card similar to that of the original lobby card. Some restorers prefer to paperback lobby cards on to a heavy backing, while others prefer to use a very lightweight backing. The advantage of a lightweight backing is that the card still "feels" like a regular lobby card, but a heavier backing makes restoration easier to do and less noticeable. Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The borders of the card had been trimmed off. There were some pinholes around the edges. There was a 5" horizontal tear in the middle of the left border extending into Loy's shoulder, with some paper loss in the lower half of the "Y" of "BARRYMORE". There were stains in much of the top half of Loy's blouse, extending into her neck and the bottom of her hair, with a few tiny stains in her face. The stains extended into the "M" of "BARRYMORE". The other parts of the image had surprisingly few defects. Overall, the lobby card was in fair condition prior to paperbacking. Some restorer paperbacked the card and did a fairly good job of restoring the above defects, but you can still see signs of the restoration of the above defects. Also, something went wrong with the paperbacking in that it is now rippled on the back of the card. It is not noticeable from the front. While the card can be displayed as it is, I would think many people would prefer to have it removed from the backing and re-restored. That will be the choice of the new owner. However, please look closely at our super-sized image (especially the area in Loy's neck and blouse) before bidding on this great card! Learn More about condition grades
