John Barrymore was an actor of the 1910s to the 1940s, widely considered to be the finest stage actor of his time! He is also well remembered for his many movies, including: the 1919 version of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the 1920 version of Sherlock Holmes, Twentieth Century, Counselor at Law, Dinner at Eight, and Grand Hotel. He was nicknamed "The Great Profile". His brother Lionel, and his sister Ethel, were also extremely accomplished stage and movie actors, and they appeared in a single movie together, Rasputin and the Empress. He had a tumultuous private life, and fought alcoholism, and was married four times. He is the father of John Drew Barrymore, and the grandfather of Drew Barrymore. He passed away in 1942 at the age of 60.
