An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Belgian Movie Poster (measures 24 1/2" x 33 1/2" [62 x 85 cm]) (Learn More)

Murders in the Zoo, the 1933 A. Edward Sutherland romantic horror mystery crime murder thriller (about an insanely jealous husband who is a wealthy zoologist, and any man who comes close to his wife ends up killed by the animals in a zoo, several in really gruesome ways, but ultimately, the man becomes a victim of his own animals!) starring Charles Ruggles, Lionel Atwill, Gail Patrick, Randolph Scott (in an early credited role), Kathleen Burke, and John Lodge. Note that male lead John Lodge has an interesting background! He came from an important New England family (his grandfather was William Henry Cabot Lodge), and he shocked them by becoming a movie actor! He appeared in a couple dozen movies between 1932 and 1940. He quit the movies to serve in World War II, and afterwards, in 1946, he became the second major movie actor ever to hold national political office, serving as a Congressman (the first was Helen Gahagan Douglas). In 1950, he became Governor of Connecticut, and later, he served as ambassador to several countries!

Artist: d'apres Rene Peron
Important Added Info: Note that this is a rare "pre-War" Belgian poster. Prior to World War II, Belgian posters were much larger than the ones from after the war, and they are extremely rare (because during WWII, there was a massive paper shortage in Belgium, and they took virtually every poster and map, and printed new posters on the backs of them!). Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.

Condition: very good. There is a large diagonal crease at lower right. There is some tattering and paper loss across the top edge and there is approximately 2" of foldline separation in the left end of the horizontal fold. The poster is otherwise in pretty nice condition, especially considering its age and if one chose to have it linenbacked it would look fantastic!
