eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 5b606 MURDER IN THE AIR LC 1940 great image of barechested young Ronald Reagan surrounded! Date Sold 4/2/2019Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Murder in the Air, the 1940 Lewis Seiler spy espionage military war action thriller ("Hidden enemies, Stolen Secrets, Sudden Death!"; "A battle aboard a doomed dirigible!"; there are spies and secret agents everywhere, and Ronald Reagan needs to save the day; no doubt he carried memories of this movie during his Presidential years!) starring Ronald Reagan, John Litel, Lya Lys, James Stephenson, Eddie Foy Jr., and Robert Warwick. Note that this movie was the final sequel to the popular "Secret Service of the Air" (there were three previous movies), all based on the same source material, and all starring Ronald Reagan! All four movies came out in a little over a year. Also note that Lya Lys was a German-born French actress who had appeared in some Hollywood MGM movies in the very early 1930s. She signed a contract with Warner Bros. in 1939, and she appeared in three of their movies, and this was the final one. After, there were no more film roles, but she rebounded with work as a cabaret singer, and she married for a fourth time and retired, and passed away in 1986 at the age of 78. Important Added Info: Note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. We are doing something in this set of auctions we rarely do! A couple of years ago, we were approached by a very long time collector, and he asked us if he could give us an entire auction of single lobby cards by himself. We agreed, and held that auction in 2017, and later that same year, a different collector sent us a different group of 999 lobby cards and we repeated the process. Now we have a third such "single owner" collection. This one was originally assembled in Australia, which is why some of the cards have either Australian paper snipes attached or Australian ratings stamps (but many do not have them). This collection originally contained 1,100 cards, and we auctioned 100 of them in our March Major Auction, and now we are auctioning the remaining 999 in THIS set of auctions, and after this auction, there will be no more cards to be offered. As will immediately be evident when you look at the cards, many of them are from titles where you almost never see any lobby cards, so this is a rare opportunity to acquire many cards that almost never are offered for sale or at auction! Condition: fair to good. The card has darkened, typical of Warner Bros. linen lobby cards of this period. There are stains, creases, and tears around the edges of the card, with pieces of tape on the back of the tears. See our super-sized images to get a good sense of the condition of this card. Please do not bid on this card unless you can accept its significant defects or are willing to pay to have them properly restored. Learn More about condition grades
