Date Sold 8/7/2018Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Hallelujah, I'm a Bum! (released in other English-speaking countries as "Hallelujah, I'm a Tramp!"), the 1933 Lewis Milestone New York City Depression era hobo musical comedy ("The story that's new because it's different!"; "The first woman he had ever known drifted into his life--and out again. Tears? You'll shed a few! [So did he!] Laughs? Try and control 'em. But it's the story that will get you as it moves in rhythm with your heart."; "His home was the park! His roof--the sky!"; written by Ben Hecht; features Rodgers and Hart music, both of whom have a bit part in the movie!) starring Al Jolson ("In his first picture ever done in rhythmic dialogue!"), Madge Evans, Frank Morgan, Harry Langdon, Chester Conklin, Edgar Connor (black African American entertainer who only appeared in this movie and a very few others), and Louise Carver NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this movie was released by United Artists in 1933. In the 1920s and 1930s, United Artists did not have a large distribution system, so they only handled the first release of their movies, and then immediately sold the rights to re-issue companies. Consequently, original United Artists release posters from their 1920s and 1930s movies are far more rare than those of other studios of the same time period. In the case of this movie, the movie was re-titled "Heart of New York" for its re-releases, and original release material with the original title is extremely scarce! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good. The card had three tears in the top border, ranging from 1 1/2" to 2", but fortunately, each of them goes into the background area. It also has pinholes and some tiny paper loss around the edges. It had a stain in the cloth covering the trash can and a pinhole in Langdon's hat, with some scuffing by Langdon's knee that may be a printing defect or surface paper loss. Overall, the card was in good condition prior to restoration. A talented restorer gel backed the card (meaning they backed the card onto a gel material) and they then performed restoration to the above defects, and then removed the gel backing, so that the card still exactly looks and feels like an original card (and it is!), with no backing at all. You can see signs of the restoration, but the card displays really well! Learn More about condition grades
