An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Gaslight, the 1944 George Cukor suspense mystery thriller ("Strange drama of a captive sweetheart!"; "M-G-M's thrilling Gaslight"; "Strange drama of a captive sweetheart!"; "Based upon the play by Patrick Hamilton"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; about a woman whose strange husband is trying to make her think she is going insane, and her friend who tries to prevent that from happening) starring Charles Boyer (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Ingrid Bergman (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Joseph Cotten, Dame May Whitty, Angela Lansbury (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film; in her first movie role!), Barbara Everest, and Heather Thatcher. Note that there have been many real life cases where someone has tried to make their spouse think they are losing their sanity, and it is commonly referred to as "gaslighting" that person, because of this famous movie with that plot! Important Added Info: Note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. We are doing something in this set of auctions we rarely do! A couple of years ago, we were approached by a very long time collector, and he asked us if he could give us an entire auction of single lobby cards by himself. We agreed, and held that auction in 2017, and later that same year, a different collector sent us a different group of 999 lobby cards and we repeated the process. Now we have a third such "single owner" collection. This one was originally assembled in Australia, which is why some of the cards have either Australian paper snipes attached or Australian ratings stamps (but many do not have them). This collection originally contained 1,100 cards, and we auctioned 100 of them in our March Major Auction, and now we are auctioning the remaining 999 in THIS set of auctions, and after this auction, there will be no more cards to be offered. As will immediately be evident when you look at the cards, many of them are from titles where you almost never see any lobby cards, so this is a rare opportunity to acquire many cards that almost never are offered for sale or at auction! Condition: good. There is scuffing scattered in the image, as well as a tiny tear to the left of Boyer's eye. There are some pinholes, faint stains, and light smudges around the edges. There are tape stains on the back of the card that slightly bleed through to the front (see our images). Learn More about condition grades
