A Group of 11 Original Vintage Stereoscopic Slides (measure 3 1/2" x 4 1/2" [9 x 11 cm]) (Learn More) The Hunchback of Notre Dame, the classic 1923 Wallace Worsley Universal silent Paris France Notre Dame Cathedral romantic religious historical horror melodrama ( "'Mighty Epic of a Mighty Epoch'"; adapted from the equally classic novel by Victor Hugo) starring Lon Chaney Sr. (in the title role as "Quasimodo", the Hunchback of Notre Dame), Patsy Ruth Miller (as Esmerelda), Norman Kerry, Kate Lester, Elmo Lincoln (best remembered for being the very first actor to portray Tarzan in the movies in 1918), and Winifred Bryson. Note that there was a wonderful sound remake of this classic silent movie in 1939, with Charles Laughton and Maureen O'Hara in the lead roles. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this auction is for 11 of the 20 original slides that were made to be used with an original 1923 Stereoscopic Slide Viewer that was sold to the general public in 1923. In 2019, we auctioned a viewer (in its original case) plus 19 slides, and those sold for $1,473, and now we are auctioning 11 duplicated slides that the same consignor had, and then we will have no more of these unless we are consigned more (and since we have never otherwise been consigned them, it is unlikely that this will happen anytime soon). They are numbered on the back and have descriptions of the scene on front. Slides like this were one of the earliest versions of "3D", because when you looked at these slides in the viewer they appeared to be three dimensional.
