STORY OF LOUIS PASTEUR STORY OF LOUIS PASTEUR Austrian program OR search current auctions Auction History Result 1e518 STORY OF LOUIS PASTEUR Austrian program '36 different images of Paul Muni in the title role! Date Sold 3/31/2011Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Austrian Film Program (measures 6" x 9" [15 x 23 cm]; 8 pages) (Learn More) The Story of Louis Pasteur, the 1936 William Dieterle (this is one of five biographical movies Dieterle directed for Warner Bros.) historical France medical research biography ("He gambled his daughter's life... that our children might live."; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; a fictionalized version of the life of Louis Pastuer, the French inventor of pasteurization and the first vaccine against rabies) starring Paul Muni (winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; in the title role as Louis Pasteur), Josephine Hutchinson, Anita Louise, Donald Woods, Fritz Leiber, Henry O'Neill, Porter Hale, and Akim Tamiroff. Note that Warner Bros. was worried that this "talky" melodrama about the life of a scientist would be "box office poison", and they use an image of Paul Muni looking menacing for the paper advertising, perhaps trying to trick the public into thinking the movie was something it was not! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have provided an image of four of the pages of this 8-page program (we did this by opening it and laying it flat and photographing the front and back cover together, and two of the interior pages together). You can see the four of the eight pages, and can well determine the exact condition of it from our super-sized image, but realize that there are four pages you are not seeing. But of course this means that the front cover appears in the top right of our image, but normally, the program would be folded down the center and you would view the cover by itself (and it will be sent folded as was originally intended). Note that on January 6th of this year we auctioned a mostly single owner collection of 551 German and Austrian programs, that included many rare and wonderful titles, but now we have been consigned (from a new consignor) 128 German and Austrian programs which include some programs that are duplicates of ones we auctioned on January 6th, but which also includes a large number of programs which we have never auctioned before, including many rare and wonderful titles (especially super-rare pre-World War II titles from both countries, and some scarce titles from during World War II and from immediately after)! If you have the slightest interest in these, be sure to look over all of the 128 programs we are currently offering. We promise you won't be disappointed! Condition: very good.
