Paul Muni was a noted Jewish stage and film actor (born in Austria-Hungary, in what is now known as Ukraine) from the 1920s to the 1960s. Some of his movies include: Valiant (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Scarface, I Am a Fugitive From a Chain Gang (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), The Good Earth, Black Fury (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), The Life Of Emile Zola (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Angle on My Shoulder, The Story Of Louis Pasteur (winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), and Juarez. He became disenchanted with Hollywood, and pretty much left in the early 1940s to perform on the Broadway stage, where he originated the lead role in "Inherit the Wind". He returned to the screen for one last triumph in The Last Angry Man (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film). He passed away in 1967 at the age of 71.
