A Paperbacked Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Lassie Come Home, the classic 1943 Fred M. Wilcox collie canine dog family melodrama ("The picture that's true to life!"; "Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's Technicolor Triumph!"; "Based on the novel by Eric Knight, author of 'This Above All'"; "Eric Knight's great dog story 'Lassie Come Home'"; "All the thrilling and amazing tricks that made Lassie the most famous dog in the world.") starring Roddy McDowall, Donald Crisp, Dame May Whitty, Edmund Gwenn, Nigel Bruce, Elsa Lanchester, Lassie (in the title role), and Elizabeth Taylor. Note that this was Elizabeth Taylor's second movie, when she was 10 years old, and she had very low billing in this movie and the previous one. She would have two more movie roles with no billing at all in "Jane Eyre" and "White Cliffs of Dover", but then in 1945, she starred in "National Velvet", which made her a star. So her next movie, which was two years later, was a sequel to this movie called "Courage of Lassie", and she was given star billing, after having been seventh billed in this movie (and un-billed on the posters!) This means the lobby card was backed onto a heavy paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original lobby card (except somewhat heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards. Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. Prior to paperbacking, the card had a diagonal tear in the right of the top border, solely in the blank white area, but extending to the bottom of the "E". It also had paper loss in the bottom right tagline area, in the "HA" of "THAT'S" and in the "O" of "TO". It had some scattered paper loss in the lower left extending into the grey-haired woman's hair. It had some other pinholes and tears around the edges. Overall, the lobby card was in fair to good condition prior to paperbacking. Given the card's considerable defects, it was pretty well restored, but the restorer painted over all the borders and white background areas, to "even them out", and that is noticeable. Please bear all of the above in mind before bidding. Learn More about condition grades
