eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result p417 GUNMAN FROM BODIE linen one-sheet movie poster '41 Buck Jones, McCoy Date Sold 3/21/2005Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) The Gunman From Bodie, the 1941 Spencer Gordon Bennet cowboy western starring The Rough Riders (Buck Jones, Tim McCoy, and Raymond Hatton), Silver the Horse, Christine McIntyre, Dave O'Brien, and Robert Frazer. Note that Buck Jones' white horse was named Silver (just like The Lone Ranger's later on!), and Silver made 73 movies with Buck Jones from 1922 until Jones' death in 1942 in the tragic Cocoanut Grove fire. But oddly, Silver was almost never billed on the posters for Buck Jones' movies as so many other famous horses (most especially Tom Mix's Tony) were! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had very minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were well restored, OR it had some minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). the poster had significant paper loss at the middle crossfold in the forehead of the middle figure extending down into his eyes. There were many pinholes around the edges of the poster. There was paper loss at the top and bottom crossfolds and creases, tears, and small paper loss along the folds. This poster has had significant restoration, but it was really nicely done! I would think few collectors would see the restoration unless they look extremely closely at the poster. I would think most collectors would be happy to display it on their wall, but please do not bid on it unless you can accept the restoration it has had. Learn More about condition grades
