An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More)

The Girl From Nowhere, the 1928 Harry Edwards comedy short sequel (produced by Mack Sennett) starring Daphne Pollard, Mack Swain, Billy Bevan, Carole Lombard (billed as "Carol Lombard"), Anita Barnes, Dot Farley, and "The Sennett Girls". Note that we can't be 100% certain that the beautiful Sennett girl on this poster is Carole Lombard, but it sure looks like her, and the two top billed ladies in this comedy short are middle-aged, and Lombard had made 22 movies by this time, and she was playing sexy roles (like "flirty blonde salesgirl" and "the swim star"), so I think it is extremely likely that the great stone litho image on this poster IS Lombard (the other three sexy girls in the cast did not have any significant success in movies, and I don't see why they would have been pictured over Lombard). If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Also note that Daphne Pollard was born in 1891 in Australia, and never grew to more than 5 feet tall, and as a child, she was part of the "Pollard Lilliputian Opera Company". Her family moved to Los Angeles in 1907 and she was in vaudeville for a year, and then appeared on Broadway. When sound movies began, she moved to Hollywood and she signed with Mack Sennett, but then switched to Hal Roach, where she appeared in a number of his movies including ones with Laurel and Hardy. She only made a few movies after 1936, and was mostly on Broadway. She passed away in 1978 at the age of 86.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.

Condition: very good to fine. The poster had tiny paper loss at the top two crossfolds and creases and a few tiny tears in the left half of the middle foldline. Otherwise, the poster was in really nice condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed, and looks great!
