Making an appeal to the emotions none can resist."; "By Jeanie Macpherson"; about a rich man in a small town who finances the education of the blacksmith's daughter; when she returns, he wants to marry her, but she runs off with another; however, he is killed, and she is pregnant and unmarried, and the rich man offers to marry her "in name only", in order to avoid scandal) starring Elliott Dexter, Gloria Swanson, Monte Blue, Theodore Roberts, and Claire McDowell. Note that Elliott Dexter's character was described as a wealthy "cripple", but that was only because Dexter was, in real life, recovering from a stroke at the time, and DeMille used his lameness in the story line!
