Richard Jones silent romantic south-of-the-border crime adventure religious melodrama ("The peerless 'Doug' in his fastest moving picture"; Fairbanks is an outlaw who lives by a shrine to the Madonna, and after religious people come to the shrine and leave offerings, he plans to steals the money, but he falls for Lupe Velez, and, after the Madonna herself appears to him in a vision [cleverly played in an unbilled cameo by his wife, the angelic Mary Pickford!], Fairbanks undergoes a religious conversion, and stops his life of crime!) starring Douglas Fairbanks Sr. (in the title role "as The Gaucho"), Lupe Velez, Joan Barclay, Eve Southern, Gustav von Seyffertitz, and Mary Pickford (in an unbilled cameo role!) Important Added Info: Note that a movie theater in 1927 took a window card from this movie and they glued it to a heavier backing board, and trimmed away the blank background areas. They then attached a piece of a different 1927 window card to the back, which had been cut into the shape of the standard standee backing! So this is a "local theater" standee, which was created in 1927 by a theater from a window card. If one wanted to, one could have it removed from the backing and have the original blank background areas recreated, which certainly would not be hard to do, but I would think most people would simply keep it as a standee! Please bear this in mind before bidding on this item. Condition: good. As noted above, a local theater converted this from a window card to a standee.
