An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Revised One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Brian De Palma's Phantom of the Paradise, the 1974 Brian De Palma horror rock 'n' roll (rock and roll) musical comedy ("He's been maimed and framed, beaten, robbed and mutilated. But they still can't keep him from the woman he loves."; "He sold his soul for rock n' roll!"; "The most highly acclaimed horror phantasy of our time"; loosely "Based on 'The Phantom of the Opera'") starring Paul Williams, William Finley (in the title role as the Phantom of the Paradise), George Memmoli, Peter Elbling (billed as "Harold Oblong"), Archie Hahn, Jeffrey Comanor, Gerrit Graham, and Jessica Harper (billed as "introducing Jessica Harper") NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Richard Corben Important Added Info: Note that this poster appears to be a teaser, but an expert on this film tells us that this poster was actually created a few months after the film's initial release due to a poor performance at the box office. The idea was that a better ad campaign would improve ticket sales at the box office. While this theatrical poster certainly has cool full-color artwork, please do not bid thinking this poster is the teaser as it is actually the "revised" one-sheet from a few months after the initial release! Condition: good. The poster has an odd pattern in the top half, almost as though someone brushed it with some kind of glue (perhaps this happened during the linenbacking process). Whatever this is, it does not seem to be removable, so please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept this defect, which is definitely noticeable, but not very distracting. The poster also had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and some creases, scuffs, and fine surface paper loss on parts of most foldlines. There were some creases, smudges, and faint stains around the edges of the poster. The poster had an NSS number stamped on the back of the bottom left corner. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed (except for the odd pattern described above, which may have been in the poster prior to linenbacking). The restorer did not touch up the bleed through from the NSS number at bottom left, and you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects, so please do not bid on this poster unless you have read the above carefully!
