Set of 5 1952 Re-Release Vintage Photographic Negatives (measure 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm]) (Learn More) Victor Hugo's The Hunchback of Notre Dame, the classic 1939 William Dieterle romantic love triangle horror melodrama ("Ten times a thousand thrills!"; "BIG beyond words! ...Wondrous beyond belief! ...Magnificent beyond compare!"; adapted from the novel by Victor Hugo) starring Charles Laughton (in the title role as Quasimodo, the hunchback), Cedric Hardwicke (billed as "Sir Cedric Hardwicke"; as Frollo), Thomas Mitchell, Maureen O'Hara (as Esmerelda), Edmond O'Brien (as Gringoire, the poet), Alan Marshal, Walter Hampden, Katharine Alexander, Harry Davenport, Helene Whitney, Katherine Alexander, George Zucco, Fritz Leiber, Etienne Girardot, Minna Gombell, Arthur Hohl, George Tobias, Rod La Rocque, and Spencer Charters. Note that this was a wonderful sound remake of the classic 1923 silent movie starring Lon Chaney Sr. and Patsy Ruth Miller in the lead roles. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is a set of 5 negatives but that we have only scanned 1 of them (we have altered the scan so it shows you an approximation of what the positive image looks like, but the quality is not the same as the actual negative). Note that studios would create photographic negatives to promote their latest movies (or stars), and they would sometimes send these to publicists, theater owners, newspapers, and others, to aid them in promoting the movie. We cannot say for certain what the origin of these negatives are, but we feel certain they were created by the studio at the time the movie it was promoting was made! Condition: good to very good. The negatives were not stored in a plastic sleeve or a glassine envelope, so they have smudges and dust on them.
