The Old Maid, the 1939 Edmund Goulding family relationship romantic melodrama ("This, above All, Bette's Best!"; "Based on the Pulitzer Prize Play by Zoe Akins and the Novel by Edith Wharton"; a really wild story set during the Civil War of a pair of female cousins; one marries well, but her former fiance appears on the day of her wedding, and the her cousin comforts him; he goes off to the war, and he is killed, and it turns out he got the cousin pregnant, and she hides that from her town, raising the child in a home for orphans; when the girl grows up, she is taken in by her mother's rich cousin, and her real mother lives there too; the girl considers her mother's cousin to be her mother, and as she marries, her real mother wants to tell her the truth, but finally realizes that it would serve no purpose, and she keeps her secret to herself) starring Bette Davis, Miriam Hopkins, George Brent, Donald Crisp, Jane Bryan, Louise Fazenda, James Stephenson, Jerome Cowan, William Lundigan, Cecilia Loftus, and Marlene Burnett

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this is a rare mini window card (we have never auctioned it before). They are certainly far more scarce than title cards or regular window cards, and are rarely offered for sale. Unlike title lobby cards, they are basically "mini posters", and certainly can be framed and enjoyed, and can be displayed in a much smaller area than a poster can be. Note that this mini window card has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except somewhat heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards. Also note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 8" x 12" [20 x 30 cm].

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. Prior to paperbacking, the card had its top and right borders trimmed off, and it had tears and paper loss in the top and right. Overall, the card was in fair to good condition prior to paperbacking. The restorer did a pretty nice job, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
