An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie 8 1/4" x 10" [21 x 25 cm] Key Book Still (Learn More) Across the Wide Missouri (released in other English-speaking countries as "Colorado"), the 1951 William A. Wellman Native American Indian cowboy western ("A year in the making! Thousands in the cast!"; "The big MGM pictures! Following 'King Solomon's Mines' and 'Kim' MGM brings you its NEW spectacular drama!"; "Story by Talbot Jennings and Frank Cavett") starring Clark Gable, Ricardo Montalban ("as Ironshirt. Implacable foe of the white man!"), John Hodiak ("as Brecan, Gable's friend and rival!"), James Whitmore ("as Old Bill Morgan... his knife as sharp as his roving eye!"), Adolphe Menjou ("as Pierre... he pays a debt... and saves a life!"), J. Carrol Naish ("as Chief Looking Glass... he trades a bride for a suit of armor!"), Jack Holt ("as Bear Ghost... he paid the price of vengeance!"), Maria Elena Marques (billed as "and introducing as Maria Elena Marques"; "as Kamiah... Fire in her black eyes... Love in her heart for the rugged white trapper!"), and Howard Keel (as the narrator). Note that James Whitmore is listed as "uncredited" on IMDB, and he is missing from most U.S. advertising. Perhaps he was added as a result of his work on films such as Battleground & The Next Voice You Hear, or perhaps most of his scenes were removed from the film, and posters were created which did not credit him. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is a key book still that measures 8" x 10". There are many key book stills that measure 8" x 11" and have punch holes in the extra 1", but this is one of the key book stills that measures 8" x 10" exactly, and has no punch holes, and it has a stamp on the back that reads "THIS IS A KEY SET PRINT". Many studios spent extra money to have their most special photos, the key book stills, either backed with linen or printed on a heavy paper, both of which enhanced their durability. They had an extra 1" at the left or top, with punch holes, because of how they were stored. Key book stills are far more rare than regular stills, which has increased their popularity among collectors, since only a few keybooks were manufactured per film, and a key book still is guaranteed to be authentic.
