An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Matri-Phony, the 1942 Harry Edwards Ancient Rome slapstick comedy short ("Goofiest comedy you ever saw"; "A Columbia Short-Subject Presentation"; the Stooges are potters in Ancient Rome, and the emperor orders all redheads brought to him so he can select a bride, and one girl seeks refuge with the Stooges, and they break the emperor's glasses and then have Curly take the girl's place, wearing a red wig!) starring The Three Stooges (Moe Howard, Larry Fine, Curly Howard), Marjorie Deanne, and Vernon Dent NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that Three Stooges collectors place a high premium on posters from the shorts that had Curly in them, before he was replaced by his brother Shemp. However, those posters rarely come up for sale, and the last one-sheet we had from a Three Stooges short with Curly as one of the three leads was from 1944's "No Dough Boys", and it auctioned for $3,700! Now we are auctioning this 1942 Curly one-sheet "Matri-Phony", plus we are also auctioning a 1946 one-sheet with Curly, "Monkey Businessmen"! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had small paper loss at the bottom crossfold and tiny paper loss at the other two crossfolds. It had some tiny bits of paper loss in parts of the vertical fold, with a lesser amount on the horizontal folds. It had pinholes around the edges and pinholes and small tears in the credits box at lower left. It had a few tiny staple holes scattered in the image.
