An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Our Leading Citizen, the 1922 Alfred E. Green silent lawyer legal romantic political comedy (about a small town lawyer who enlists in World War I, and meets a pretty nurse there, who is the sister of one of the town's big shots; when he returns after the war, the citizens ask him to run for Congress, but he thinks his girlfriend made it happen, so he refuses, but she convinces him that it is because he is the best man for the job, and he runs and wins, and goes to Washington, D.C. with his new bride!) starring Thomas Meighan ("in a George Ade story"), Lois Wilson, William P. Carleton, Theodore Roberts, and Guy Oliver. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has never been folded! Some pre-1970 half-sheet posters were folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 half-sheet posters (note that most post-1970 half-sheets were NOT folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those half-sheets). Condition: good. The poster was never folded. There is blue writing in the top blank border and in the bottom blank border. There is brown staining in the upper left in the blank borders and white text that extends slightly into the oval and over the woman's hair. In spite of these defects, the poster could be displayed as it is, or certainly, it could be restored (however, it is very interesting to note that the theater that wrote the play dates at the top also wrote "ALSO A PATHE COMEDY 'ONE TERRIBLE DAY' WITH SUNSHINE SAMMY", which was the very first Our Gang short ever released to theaters, making this a historic poster!).
