An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

Key Largo, the 1948 John Huston crime film noir ("Killer against killer, gun to gun, on the hot spot of the Florida Keys!"; "A cast as explosive as its story!"; "You'll see the performances of your life in the hit of their lives!"; set in the Florida Keys during a hurricane!; based on the hit play by Maxwell Anderson) starring Humphrey Bogart, Edward G. Robinson, Lauren Bacall, Lionel Barrymore, Claire Trevor (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Thomas Gomez, John Rodney, Dan Seymour, Harry Lewis, and Marc Lawrence. Note that this was the final movie in which Humphrey Bogart co-starred with Lauren Bacall. They first met during the filming of "To Have and Have Not" in 1944, and then were married in 1945. They re-teamed for "The Big Sleep" in 1946, and then made "Dark Passage" the following year. They teamed again in for this movie in 1948, but they did not make another movie together, likely having a lot to do with their having two children.

Important Added Info: Note that this one-sheet is rarely offered for sale. We have only auctioned one example of it in all our years of auctioning, and that was 14 years ago!

Note that all but 28 of the folded one-sheets in this Part I of eMoviePoster.com's December Major Auction were consigned to us by legendary French dealer/collector Dominique Besson.

Dominique Besson started collecting movie posters in 1981, and became a dealer in French and European posters in 1994, and has remained as a top dealer ever since!

But in addition, 30 years ago, Dominique began collecting U.S. one-sheets, first those with Saul Bass art, and then adding Alfred Hitchcock posters, then Humphrey Bogart, and he finally ended up collecting in an amazing total of 47 different categories, purchasing the posters from all over the world!

Now the time has come to sell this wonderful collection, and Dominique has chosen eMoviePoster.com to do so, through our auctions!

As noted above, all but 28 of the folded one-sheets in this Part I come from this more remarkable collection (the 28 that do not were consigned to us by other collectors, and are clearly marked).

This is not all of the Dominique Besson collection we are auctioning. In addition, there are approximately 200 more folded one-sheets that will be in Part IV of this special auction (ones from the 1970s to present), and there are approximately 100 unfolded one-sheets that will be in Part III (including many great ones).

This is a very rare opportunity to purchase folded one-sheets (all of which have had no professional restoration) from one of the greatest one-sheet collections assembled!

Note that this one-sheet is from the category that Dominique Besson collected on that he labeled "Humphrey Bogart".

Condition: good to very good. The poster has a 2" tear above the top crossfold and a 1 1/2" tear below it, with matching tears above and below the bottom crossfold. There is also small paper loss at the bottom crossfold, and there are several small tears scattered in the top and bottom quarters of the vertical fold. Someone put pieces of clear tape on the back of the four longer tears, and they put slight red touch up on the front of the tear that falls in the red background at top center. There are many creases around the edges, and there are creases to the right of the middle half of the vertical fold, likely caused when the poster was machine folded. There are pinholes in the top left and top right, in the red areas, and some in the lower left and right, also in the red areas. There is a 2" tear in the bottom border that has a piece of tape on the back. In spite of the above defects, the poster can be displayed and enjoyed as it is, or one could choose to have the above defects corrected through linenbacking. Either way, the new owner will have a great poster to display on their wall!
