An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (measures 10" x 13") (Learn More)

The Circus Cowboy, the 1924 William A. Wellman silent cowboy circus romantic melodrama (Buck is not much of a cowboy in this movie, despite the title; he lives in a small town and returns after two years away to find his girl is married to the richest man in town, and he is falsely accused of attempting to murder him, and he runs away and joins a circus, where he falls in love with a pretty tightrope walker!) starring Buck Jones (billed as "Charles Jones"), Marian Nixon, Jack McDonald, Ray Hallor, and Marguerite Clayton. Note that Buck Jones' white horse was named Silver (just like The Lone Ranger's later on!), and Silver made 73 movies with Buck Jones from 1922 until Jones' death in 1942 in the tragic Cocoanut Grove fire. But oddly, Silver was almost never billed on the posters for Buck Jones' movies as so many other famous horses (most especially Tom Mix's Tony) were. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.

some areas of surface paper loss around the edges of the card in the blue background; some minor creases, smudges, and scuffs throughout the card (more so around the edges); 1" tear in the middle of the right edge extending into Jones' arm (repaired with tape from the back) as well as a few 1/4" and smaller tears around the edges of the card; ink pen writing on the back of the card that does not appear to have any effect on the front
