Now... It becomes the great screen drama of our time!"; "To the millions who were shocked when they read it! This picture is the fulfillment of expectation!"; "One woman cried out... for all women! One man avenged all men!"; "The most celebrated story of our time!"; "From the best-selling Book and Reader's Digest story by Kressmann Taylor"; "Retribution! Share it! Rejoice in it!"; about two German-American art dealers, one Jewish, who are partners, and the non-Jewish one returns to Germany, where he becomes an avid Nazi, and he breaks off from his partner, which causes great problems for his son, who is engaged to his Jewish partner's daughter) starring Paul Lukas, Carl Esmond, Peter Van Eyck, Mady Christians, Morris Carnovsky, and K.T. Stevens (billed as "introducing K.T. Stevens"). Note that there is a real oddity to the movie paper for this movie! Virtually every poster and lobby card has a small image of a letter next to the title, and on every example of all of them we have auctioned have had a rectangular piece of blank white paper glued over that area! There are several possible explanations for this, but the most likely seems to be that they used a name on that envelope that was the same as someone who was angered by that and threatened to sue, so they sniped them over, but that is purely a guess. If anyone can solve this mystery, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that the majority of these stills have a snipe on the back with information about the scene on front and most are attributed either to St. Hilaire or Gordon Head! SUPER IMPORTANT! THOUGH ONLY EIGHT OF THE STILLS ARE PICTURED, THE HIGH BIDDER ON THIS LOT WILL RECEIVE 35 STILLS FROM THIS MOVIE (but realize that on some of these lots with 9 or more stills there may be a few duplicates, mostly on post-1960 lots)! We realize there is an element of gambling to this, but we made only a small effort to find the best stills in these lots, and, if you have any willingness to gamble at all, you may find that you get some great stills that were not pictured! Please do NOT bid on this lot unless you can accept that you are only seeing eight of the stills. Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
