An Original Vintage German Cigarette Card Album (measures 9" x 12 1/4" [23 x 31 cm]; contains 168 cards on 35 pages) (Learn More) Manoli Gold und Film Tonfilmserie (literally translates to "Talkie Films"), the 1930s German cigarette card album promoting Manoli Cigarettes and featuring 35 pages of 168 tipped-in cigarette premium cards of popular movie stars including: Emil Jannings, Anna May Wong, Jackie Coogan, Clara Bow, John Barrymore, Adolphe Menjou, and many, many more! There are glassine sheets inserted between each sheet of cards so that they don't rub against each other (this is how the album was created). There are two full-page images of scenes from movies as well (we did not picture them) and there is a 2-page index to all the cards. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have seen many different German cigarette card albums, but this one is one of the absolute nicest, because it is organized by stars and includes two entire pages of Marlene Dietrich, divided into sections (six close portraits of Dietrich, three from Blue Angel, and three from her "In Hollywood"). There are similar entries for Greta Garbo, Brigitte Helm, and other top European stars, plus individual cards on many American stars. All of the cards have four "corners" tipped in that hold the cards in place (this is much better than most albums, where the owner would glue the cards onto the area). This is absolutely the best of these albums we can remember seeing (see our images)! Condition: very good to fine. The album has smudging on the covers but is otherwise in really nice condition!
