Schoedsack Africa New York City giant ape fantasy romantic love triangle adventure horror thriller ("'The most awesome thriller of all time' the one and only"; "Not beast.. Not human.... Not devil.. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that a theater was showing King Kong in 1956 (when it had a major re-release; there is a 1956 NSS number written in the top and bottom blank borders), and they did not have a regular 40x60 to display. So they took a "stock" 40x60 with a cool pattern design and had a local artist add "King Kong with Fay Wray" in the title area, and they then glued three 1956 re-release cards to the area above it, together with a 1952 re-release lobby card! It is surely one of the most "unique" King Kong posters imaginable. One could have the four lobby cards removed from the stock poster, but I can't really see why someone would choose to do that (although that option will be open to the new owner). Condition: fair to good. The three 1956 re-release lobby cards were glued solidly to the backing, but of course, they could be removed by a talented professional. The 1952 lobby card originally extended over the left border area and someone ripped off slightly more than 2" of the left side of that card! But of course, a restorer could recreate that. There are many scuffs and light stains scattered throughout the poster, with creases, stains, and tears around the edges. Please look closely at our super-sized image of this poster, because it is such an unusual poster that it is difficult to describe its condition in words and you really need to look at it.
