An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 9 1/4" x 12 1/4" [23 x 31 cm]; mounted to a stiff board that measures 10 1/4" x 13 1/4") (Learn More)

Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man, the 1943 Roy William Neill Universal monster horror thriller (the fifth Universal Frankenstein movie) starring Ilona Massey (as Baroness Elsa Frankenstein), Patric Knowles, Bela Lugosi (in the title role as the Frankenstein Monster), Lionel Atwill, Maria Ouspenskaya, Rex Evans, Dwight Frye, Lon Chaney Jr. (in the title role as the Wolf Man; "Lon Chaney in his most terrifying role"; "Lon Chaney as The Wolfman"), Dennis Hoey, Jeff Corey, Doris Lloyd, Adia Kuznetzoff, Martha Vickers (billed as "Martha MacVicar" in her first movie), Gil Perkins (who doubled for Bela Lugosi in some action scenes), and Eddie Parker (who doubled for Lon Chaney Jr. in some action scenes). Note that in this movie, Bela Lugosi took over the role of the Frankenstein monster which had been played by Lon Chaney Jr. in the previous movie, because Lon Chaney Jr. reprised his role of the Wolf Man, which he had created in the 1941 Universal classic!

Important Added Info: Note that in this scene, it was not Bela Lugosi holding Ilona Massey! Even though Lugosi played the Frankenstein monster, Gil Perkins doubled for Lugosi for the extremely physical scenes like this one, and the audience never noticed (and only very sharp-eyed collectors notice that it is not Lugosi as the monster in this image)! Also note that this lobby card has been trimmed and it now measures 9 1/4" x 12 1/4" [23 x 31 cm], and it was later mounted to a stiff board that measures 10 1/4" x 13 1/4". Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: good. Someone trimmed off all four of the blank borders and the card now measures 9" x 12 1/4". There is a 4" vertical crease running down the left of the Wolf Man in the border art, to the left of his face, with a 2" horizontal crease running through the monsters' waists. There are a few faint dot stains scattered in the image. Someone took the card and glued it to a stiff piece of white cardboard to give it the illusion of borders. A talented professional could certainly remove it from the backing board and re-create the missing borders, and do tiny touch up to the image, after which, the card will look wonderful! But please do not bid on this card unless you have read the above carefully and can accept that the card has no borders and was glued to a board.
