10 Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Stills (Learn More)

Dog Day Afternoon, the classic 1975 Sidney Lumet (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) New York City bank robbery hostage crime thriller ("The robbery should have taken 10 minutes. 4 hours later, the bank was like a circus sideshow. 8 hours later, it was the hottest thing on live TV.... 12 hours later, it was history. And it's all true."; "In August, 1972, Sonny Wortzik robbed a bank. 250 cops, the F.B.I., 8 hostages and 2,000 onlookers will never forget what took place."; "Nobody could dream him up. His incredible bank robbery is all the more bizarre... Because it's true."; "In the middle of a robbery -- Pizza for everyone. Pizza for everyone??"; "In the middle of a robbery -- A protest demonstration. A protest demonstration??"; "In the middle of a robbery -- Mama comes to help. Mama comes to help??"; "In the middle of a robbery -- An obscene phone call. An obscene phone call??"; "Weird things can happen on a Dog Day Afternoon"; "When it actually happened, Life Magazine made a big fuss about it... Now see what the big fuss is all about."; "Al Pacino plays Sonny Wortzik... maybe you remember him... Maybe you remember how crazy the whole thing was."; "Incredible but True!"; "Screenplay by Frank Pierson"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Al Pacino (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), John Cazale, James Broderick, Charles Durning ("as Moretti"), and Chris Sarandon (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film)

Important Added Info: SUPER IMPORTANT! THOUGH ONLY EIGHT OF THE STILLS ARE PICTURED, THE HIGH BIDDER ON THIS LOT WILL RECEIVE 10 STILLS FROM THIS MOVIE (but realize that on some of these lots with 9 or more stills there may be a few duplicates, mostly on post-1960 lots)! We realize there is an element of gambling to this, but we made only a small effort to find the best stills in these lots, and, if you have any willingness to gamble at all, you may find that you get some great stills that were not pictured! Please do NOT bid on this lot unless you can accept that you are only seeing eight of the stills. Note that these stills appear in every way to be original U.S. release EXCEPT that there is one very tiny line of French type in the lower right of each still. It reads, "IMPRIME AUX ETATS-UNIS D'AMERIQUE". A collector has told us that he believes this means the stills were printed for use in areas that included French-speaking parts of Canada, but that they WERE printed in the U.S., and that makes complete sense to us (and we have seen this on stills from the 1940s through the early 2000s, so it has certainly been done for an extremely long time)! So they are original stills from 1975, but they were printed partially for use in French-speaking Canada. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Condition: very good.
