An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man, the 1943 Roy William Neill Universal monster horror thriller (the fifth Universal Frankenstein movie) starring Ilona Massey (as Baroness Elsa Frankenstein), Patric Knowles, Bela Lugosi (in the title role as the Frankenstein Monster), Lionel Atwill, Maria Ouspenskaya, Rex Evans, Dwight Frye, Lon Chaney Jr. (in the title role as the Wolf Man; "Lon Chaney in his most terrifying role"; "Lon Chaney as The Wolfman"), Dennis Hoey, Jeff Corey, Doris Lloyd, Adia Kuznetzoff, Martha Vickers (billed as "Martha MacVicar" in her first movie), Gil Perkins (who doubled for Bela Lugosi in some action scenes), and Eddie Parker (who doubled for Lon Chaney Jr. in some action scenes). Note that in this movie, Bela Lugosi took over the role of the Frankenstein monster which had been played by Lon Chaney Jr. in the previous movie, because Lon Chaney Jr. reprised his role of the Wolf Man, which he had created in the 1941 Universal classic! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is a 1943 still. However, it was reused during the 1949 re-release of this movie, and there is a 1949 NSS number stamped on the back. But it IS a 1943 still, that was simply reused. Note that the one-sheet for this movie used part of this art (the close up of the monsters fighting), but this still shows the full artwork that was created, which includes a lot of background, and an unconscious Ilona Massey between Lugosi's monster legs. We have seen this full artwork used on the 24-sheet, because we have seen the pressbook, but we highly doubt that any of those 24-sheets exist! Note that this still has an image of artwork created specifically for this movie! Such stills are far more rare than stills which show scenes from the movie! Condition: good to very good. The still has darkened somewhat in the white border areas. There are some light stains in the left and right borders and creases in the bottom right, with just a few tiny creases scattered in the image.
