An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Reviews One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

The Graduate, the classic 1968 Mike Nichols (winner of the Best Director Academy Award for this film) coming-of-age romantic melodrama ("'Benjamin do you find me undesirable?' 'Oh, no Mrs. Robinson. I think you're the most attractive of all my parents' friends.'"; "This is Benjamin. He's a little worried about his future."; "'Mrs. Robinson, you're trying to seduce me...aren't you?'"; "Screenplay by Calder Willingham and Buck Henry"; "Songs by Paul Simon performed by Simon and Garfunkel"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; about a college graduate who becomes involved with the wife of his father's business partner and then romances her daughter) starring Anne Bancroft (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; as Mrs. Robinson), Dustin Hoffman (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; as Benjamin Braddock), Katharine Ross (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film; as Elaine Robinson), William Daniels (as Mr. Braddock), Murray Hamilton (as Mr. Robinson), Elizabeth Wilson (as Mrs. Braddock), Buck Henry (who wrote the screenplay, as the "Room Clerk"), Brian Avery (as Carl), Norman Fell (as Mr. McCleery), and a young Richard Dreyfuss (in a bit part, but he does have two lines!)

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that the domestic release of this movie prior to the Academy Awards was handled by Embassy Pictures (the non-U.S. release was handled by United Artists). There are two styles of pre-Awards one-sheets that each have a large blank section at the top (we strongly suspect that the producers were certain the movie would win multiple Academy Awards, and they left that area so they could quickly print new posters referencing the Academy Awards right after the ceremony). But in addition to those pre-Awards one-sheets with large image areas, Embassy also made this reviews one-sheet, prior to the Academy Awards, but after Mike Nichols had won the New York Film Critics Best Director award, and after the first critics had seen the movie, and the poster references that. Since the Film Critic Awards were held in January and the Oscars were held at the start of April, this poster could only have been used during that brief time. This is an extremely rare poster, far more rare than the other pre-awards one-sheets for this movie. We have only auctioned three examples of this poster, and only one in the past 16 years, and that one was in terrible condition.

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and very minor fold and border wear. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
