Date Sold 10/22/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 11" x 12 1/2" [28 x 32 cm]) (Learn More) The Branded Sombrero, the 1928 Lambert Hillyer silent south-of-the-border family relationship stolen cattle cowboy western ("A Two-Gun Drama of a Ten Gallon Hat"; "Story by Cherry Wilson"; about a cattle rancher known as "Honest John", but on his deathbed, he tells his sons that he actually stole all his cattle when he was a rustler, and he makes them promise to pay back the people he stole them from; one keeps the promise and the other doesn't) starring Buck Jones, Leila Hyams, Jack Baston, Starton Heck, Francis Ford, and Silver (Buck's horse). Note that Buck Jones' white horse was named Silver (just like The Lone Ranger's later on!), and Silver made 73 movies with Buck Jones from 1922 until Jones' death in 1942 in the tragic Cocoanut Grove fire. But oddly, Silver was almost never billed on the posters for Buck Jones' movies as so many other famous horses (most especially Tom Mix's Tony) were! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we think this is a trimmed half-sheet (but it could possibly be from an insert). It is printed on heavy paper stock like inserts and half-sheets of this time. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: poor. The poster was heavily trimmed (see above). What remains could be framed and enjoyed, but do not bid unless you can accept that it is heavily trimmed. Learn More about condition grades
